WATCH: Kerry Washington NAILS IT on 'Saturday Night Live!'

The people at Saturday Night Live sure know how to turn a bad PR move around.

In their cold open this past weekend — Kerry Washington hosted! — the long-running series took on their critics and pointed out their own flaws for not having a black actress on staff.

In the opening sketch, we see Jay Pharoah portraying President Obama and in comes Kerry, giving her best Michelle Obama.

“Michelle, this is such a treat. I feel like it’s been years since I’ve seen you!” Jay quipped happily. (He’s right. The last actress to portray her was Maya Rudolph, who left in 2007.)

The first couple is then informed that Oprah Winfrey has arrived.

“So, don’t you think you should go and get changed?” said mock White House aide Taran Killam.

Kerry tried to resist, asking if Kenan Thompson would step-in … (the actor went on record recently saying that he would no longer dress in drag).

As Kerry exited the oval office, the following message was read and shown on the screen:

“The producers at Saturday Night Live would like to apologize to Kerry Washington for the number of black women she will be asked to play tonight.  We made these requests both because Ms. Washington is an actress of considerable range and talent and also because SNL does not currently have a black woman in the cast. As for the latter reason, we agree this is not an ideal situation and look forward to rectifying it in the near future. Unless of course, we fall in love with another white guy first.”

Hilarious! Watch here!
