Singer-actress Mya turns 34 today!

  • Mya is an R&B recording artist, entertainer, philanthropist and occasional actress.
  • Though she originally wanted to become a dancer, she discovered her vocal skills in church. At age 16, she signed with Interscope Records.
  • Her self-titled debut sold more than one-million copies in the U.S. and spun off the Top 10 single "It's All About Me" featuring Sisqó.
  • Her second studio album, the platinum-selling Fear of Flying, came out in 2000, and the single "Case of the Ex" was Mya's breakthrough hit. Her third album, Moodring, was released in the summer of 2003 and produced the smash hit "My Love Is Like...Wo"
  • In 2002, Mya won her first Grammy, for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for her rendition of Labelle's 1975 hit "Lady Marmalade" with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim andPink for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.
  • She's since launched her own independent record label, Planet 9, and was the runner-up on the ninth season of Dancing With the Stars.
