Robin Thicke will be putting the microphone aside for his next gig -- a short film featuring him and his wife Paula Patton.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Robin will write, direct and star in Mercy, a fact-based drama in which he'll play a limo driver who tries to keep his family together despite his wife's drug addiction. Thicke and Patton recruited some Hollywood firepower to round out the cast -- Hunger Games co-star Amandla Stenberg and TV veteran Robert Patrick have supporting roles.

Of course, this isn't a huge stretch for Robin, since his dad is veteran sitcom actor Alan Thicke.
