UPDATE (5:00 p.m. ET): Not surprisingly, Jeezy is disputing the cops' version of events. Instead, sources close to the rapper tells TMZ that officers immediately recognized him, saying, "Oh, you're Jeezy the rapper," but then started "antagonizing" him. Jeezy is also upset cops refused to let him make a phone call and forced him to stand outside his girlfriend's house while they looked for evidence against him.
More details are emerging on Atlanta cops' decision to arrest Young Jeezy yesterday on obstruction charges.
Sources tell TMZ that cops felt they had to cuff the rapper after showing up at his girlfriend's house because he looked like he might be "a threat." Though it was originally reported that police were responding to a burglar alarm, cops now say it was a "panic alarm." The responding officers didn't know if someone had been hurt inside the home or if they were dealing with an intruder when they confronted Jeezy outside the home.
Cops say they tried to detain Jeezy until they could sort things out. Instead, they claim that he told them, "[Eff] you, I don't have to tell you [ish]!" and tried to resist the officers, which led to his arrest.
TeeRoy's 2 Cents:
- Sounds like Jeezy's girlfriend hit the panic button on him.
- Kanye better save a seat for Jeezy in that anger management class.
- First the alleged fight with his son, now this. Hmm...
- Do you believe Atlanta cops recognize Jeezy on site?
