HIP HOP NEWS YOU NEED TO KNOW-CHIEF KEEF: Deadbeat Dad-TIMBALAND: Says Sorry to Jay-Z-CASH MONEY: Birdman and Slim to Recieve BMI Icon Award-
CHIEF KEEF: Deadbeat Dad
Chief Keef's baby momma is claiming that the 17-year-old rapper is already deadbeat dad. A court ordered him to pay his child's mother $2,600 a month in child support, plus $500 for daycare, beginning in May. His monthly income is estimated to be $13,000 per month.
Now from what my people at TMZ say the woman has filed legal documents claiming that so far she's only seen $1,900. A Chicago judge is buying her claim and has ordered the rapper to appear in court in September to explain why he hasn't paid.
MY 2 CENTS:
Didn't he get arrested with $8,000 in his pocket? That's most of it right there.
Good luck to the mother. Dealing with Chief Keef is going to be no picnic.
When babies have babies...
TIMBALAND: Says Sorry to Jay-Z
Timbaland has has a song called "Sorry" in which he apologizes to Jay-Z for the beef they went through a couple of years ago. "It wasn't industry related, it was personal," Timbaland tells Revolt TV about their disagreement. "And I was wrong."
While Tim is vauge about exactly went down, the song's lyrics include, “We cop the same Range, we talk to the same dames / Same thangs, same lane / Now we see each other, don't even speak...I missed your 40th and that hurt me so deep / Accept my apology...please."
Keri Hilson is featured on the track, and she takes the opportunity to apologize to Beyonce for allegedly dissing her in the re-mix of 2009's "Turning Me On." Tim says that although Hilson "wasn't really talking about Beyonce," she still wanted to apologize for the fact that she might have appeared to be dissing the Queen B.
MY 2 CENTS:
Tim apologizes to Jay and Keri to Bey. Everybody kiss the ring!
Easy to make fun, but it does take a big man to apologize. Especially publicly.
Wonder if they'll ever go public with what the beef was about.
CASH MONEY: Birdman and Slim to Recieve BMI Icon Award
We hope YMCMB's founding fathers have a nice speech prepared for this year’s BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards -- Birdman and Slim will be receiving the Icon Award from the songwriters' organization.
BMI Vice President Catherine Brewton says, “Their ability to cultivate talent, build and sustain a brand while composing chart-topping songs is an accomplishment worthy of the Icon designation.” Cash Money has been around for over 20 years and has sold more than 90 million albums. It started as a local outfit but has grown into one of the most successful hip-hop labels in history, with the likes of Lil' Wayne,Drake, Nicki Minaj and DJ Khaled.
Previous winners of the Icon Award include Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton and The Jacksons.
The BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards will take place on August 22nd in New York City. Ray J has signed on to host.
They shouldn't get an Icon award just because they sell a lot of records.
Who actually thinks of Birdman or Slim as a songwriter?
ZIMMERMAN CASE: Juror Asks for New Laws
The woman known as Juror B37 in the George Zimmerman trial has spoken again -- or at least issued a statement.
In an exclusive statement released to CNN, she suggested that lawmakers should alter the laws so a tragedy similar to the Trayvon Martin killing doesn't happen again.
She said, "My prayers are with all those who have the influence and power to modify the laws that left me with no verdict option other than 'not guilty' in order to remain within the instructions. No other family should be forced to endure what the Martin family has endured."
Juror B37's latest statement comes after four of her fellow jurors issued their own statement, clarifying that the statements she expressed during her interview with Anderson Cooper were "her own, and not in many way representative" of the other jurors.
